Everyday technology shouldn’t feel overwhelming
Technology is part of so much of everyday life now, from booking appointments and ordering groceries to keeping in touch with family and friends.
But what happens when you don’t know how to do something, an app changes, or you’re worried about getting something wrong?
For many older adults, these challenges can affect their confidence and independence. And often, it’s family members who step in to help, sometimes juggling those responsibilities alongside their own busy lives.
I’m exploring practical, patient digital guidance that helps people understand and use everyday technology with greater confidence, while taking some of the pressure off the people supporting them.
Sessions could take place online or in community settings including care homes, depending on what’s needed.
What can I help you with?
Sometimes it’s the everyday things that become frustrating when everything seems to have moved online.
Whether you’re trying to find your way around an app, use a website or keep in touch with family and friends, a little guidance can make a big difference.
Here are just some of the things I can help you with:
- Find your way around the NHS App and understand where different features are.
- Navigate your GP surgery’s website and find the information you need.
- Browse online shops and understand how shopping websites work.
- Send emails and make video calls.
- Understand how to navigate online forms.
- Search for and find information online.
You’ll use your own device and stay in control throughout. I won’t ask for passwords, banking details or other sensitive information, make payments or complete transactions on your behalf.
These are just examples. If there’s something else you’re struggling with, please get in touch and we can see whether it’s something I can help you learn to do yourself.
A few words about my experience
Before starting The Flow Space, I spent many years working in public services, including six years with Healthwatch Suffolk.
Here’s what Andy, the Chief Executive of Healthwatch Suffolk, had to say about working with me.
“Louise is a highly organised person and is very reliable. She can work to tight deadlines and is able to speak to people at all levels. She has proved that she can interact with people remotely. She is self motivated, adaptable and capable of working independently. Louise is a problem solver with a strong work ethic and has a genuine interest in working with others”.
Digital Guidance that fits around People’s needs
Practical, patient support to help people feel more confident using everyday technology.
Not everyone needs the same kind of help. Some people are comfortable getting online but need guidance finding their way around particular apps or websites. Others benefit from learning alongside someone who can explain things clearly, without rushing.
I’m offering two ways to help people feel more confident with everyday technology.
Individual Online Digital Guidance
Friendly, patient, one-to-one guidance for adults across the UK who want to feel more confident using everyday technology.
Sessions last 60 minutes and take place online, giving you time to ask questions, practise and learn at your own pace.
You’ll use your own device and stay in control throughout. A trusted family member, friend or volunteer will need to help you connect for your first session if you cannot do this independently.
Family members can also enquire about arranging and paying for a session for a relative.
Simple, easy-to-follow guides may also be provided after sessions, helping people remember what they’ve learned and practise again in their own time.
Community Digital Guidance for groups and families
Practical digital guidance for community groups, organisations and care homes wanting to help people feel more confident and independent with everyday technology.
Sessions can take place face-to-face at an agreed community venue or care home, or online with participants gathered together at a venue and someone there to help them connect. The content and arrangements will be tailored to the group’s needs.
Organisations can enquire about funding sessions for their members or residents. Family members can also enquire about paying for a relative to attend a community session, where places are available.
Simple, easy-to-follow guides may also be provided after sessions, helping people remember what they’ve learned and practise again in their own time.

Whether you’re interested in guidance for yourself, a family member, a community group or care home, I’d love to hear from you.
I’m currently exploring what people need and how these sessions could work, so please get in touch to discuss what’s possible.
Individual Online Digital Guidance
Sometimes it’s easier to learn when someone has time to focus just on you.
Friendly, one-to-one guidance in a 60-minute online session, helping you find your way around everyday websites, apps and digital tools at your own pace.
You can enquire for yourself or on behalf of a family member, including if you’d like to arrange and pay for their session.
Simple, easy-to-follow guides may also be provided after sessions, helping people remember what they’ve learned and practise again in their own time.
Community Digital Guidance for groups and families
Being able to use everyday technology can help people stay independent, connected and involved in the world around them.
I offer friendly, practical group sessions in community settings, such as village halls, community centres and care homes, helping people build confidence with everyday technology while enjoying the opportunity to learn alongside others.
Sessions can be delivered face-to-face, or online with participants gathered together at a venue and someone on hand to help them connect. Online group sessions focus on a shared topic, with opportunities to ask questions and practise together.
Community organisations and care homes can enquire about arranging and funding sessions for the people they support.
Family members can also enquire about paying for a relative to attend a community session, whether that’s someone living in a care home or someone who would enjoy learning alongside others at a local venue.
Sessions will depend on local interest, suitable venues and arrangements, so please get in touch to explore what’s possible.
Simple, easy-to-follow guides may also be provided after sessions, helping people remember what they’ve learned and practise again in their own time.
How Digital Guidance Works
You’ll use your own device throughout, with friendly, step-by-step guidance at a pace that suits you.
Your privacy and independence matter. I’ll never ask for passwords, PINs or banking details, take control of your device or carry out transactions on your behalf.
For individual online sessions, a trusted family member, friend or volunteer can help you get connected and join in with your permission.
Simple reference guides may also be available after sessions to help you remember what you’ve learned.
